A freelance correspondent for more than 15 years, Ros was educated in Scotland and England and has a master's degree in journalism from University of California, Berkeley.

When in the US, she covered business, energy, presidential elections, fiscal policy, Silicon Valley, culture and other subjects for print, broadcast and online. Major clients have included Reuters, Sunday Herald, Scotland on Sunday, BBC radio and Salon.com.

Since returning to the UK, she has reported or edited for clients ranging from The Guardian business website and Guardian & Observer Books to the San Francisco Chronicle and Canadian TV.

She has written copy for academia, charities and businesses; consulted on economic growth and PR; and worked in documentary film.
